Dodge has made the move to electrified muscle with its first ever Dodge Charger Daytona SRT EV Concept. Quite sleek and muscular, their first stab in the electric segment is actually not half bad. I’m sure most Hellcat and Demon owners will be sad with the lack of ”muscle” happening without an engine. They can settle for the lackluster engine notes coming through the EV’s exhaust. This car is set to hit markets in the first quarter of 2024.

The Charger EV now comes with a panoramic hatchback where the back seats fold fully down. Another Charger first. As a car owner with a dog, this is awesome; what a great improvement. There will be no spoiler for this car. 21” turbine-style rims are outfitted with the stopping power of six-piston brakes. Carbon fiber intakes on the front and rear for aerodynamics. Dodge even patented the front end and sound the car emits. This is the first exhaust system for an electric car. It’s called “Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust.” A 126-decibel sound is belched when electricity is converted to power and air flows through the exhaust, thus creating the “note.” The sound is then heightened through an amp and tuning chamber at the back of the Charger. The pressure is visible and you can feel it as it exits the car. Cool? Not sure yet.

The Charger Daytona SRT Concept will have a new 800-volt Banshee propulsion battery that Dodge claims will be quicker than a Hellcat. Lower trims will use a 400-volt battery. 800-volt batteries are already in the market, but not necessarily the segment, with the Porsche Taycan, Audi E-Tron GT, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6. A Banshee will be badged all over the SRT variant in addition to the Fratzog badge. That one will have a 2-motor AWD system, which is the key to all its power; one in the back and one in the front.

In order to keep the muscle car feel, a multi-speed transmission with electro-mechanical shifting, dubbed “eRupt,” will let the driver feel shifting points. I am unsure of how many gears there will be, but there will be three power levels to deviate between. If you are feeling crazy, after your purchase you can go to Direct Connection authorized dealers and have six more power levels downloaded! The best part, all of this will be covered under factory warranty still! This technology will be available for purchase before or after car delivery.

Push a steering-wheel mounted button for the ultimate boost. PowerShot push-to-pass will give an instantaneous disbursement of power, delivering an extra 25hp to the occupants. Auto, Sport, Track, and Drag modes will change the driving, displays, sound, and interior lighting, which stretches the entire length of the dash and doors. Carbon fiber floors are just a cherry on top at this point in addition to a 16-inch curved infotainment screen that even beats the new Lexus SUV screens. The start button will be hidden under the gear selector like a fighter jet and similar to a Lamborghini. Would you put a deposit on this new EV?
